hIsnft there any park where plum trees are seen besides Suwa-Bairin in Hitachi city?h When editors received such a question from a reader, it was checked and Sukegawa ruin of a castle park located at 96, 5-chome Sukegawa-cho was found. In front of Hitachi hospital, if you make a turn to Hatogaoka direction from route 6, you will find the park located at the top of the uphill.

ƒFlowers, blossoms and trees in the park„
Seasonal flowers and trees like cherry, plum, azalea and gingko are planted in the park. Aloes-wood sent from Yamanobe, Yamagata prefecture which is friendly city to Hitachi is planted too. There are a lot of welfare facilities in the neighborhood and the park is a place for the userfs relaxation.

Sukegawa ruin of a castle park was made by utilizing Sukegawa coast defense ruin of a castle which Mito feudal lord, Tokugawa Nariaki prepared for an invasion of a foreign ship in 1836. Most parts were burnt down in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate and a few of them recalling those days are designated as Ibaraki prefecture historic site.

The starting point in a hiking trail to Mt. Takasuzu via Sukegawayama citizenfs forest is Sukegawa ruin of a castle park. It is regretted to have been burnt down but itfs said that Shiro (castle) which had coast defense for its object is also rare nationwide. Imagination is driven in history at this park where everyone can get a bird's eye view of the Pacific Ocean, too. So, how about enjoying seasonal flowers and blossoms by visiting here?
