Origin Hitachi, Ltd. began production research into electrical insulating varnish in 1912(Me  iji 45) with the belief of Namihei Odaira ,the founder of
Hitachi, Ltd., that the basis of production of electrical machinery is
electrical insulating materials. This is the origin of Hitachi Chemical.Now with newly added and advanced performance, the varnish which is one of the base materials support the state-of-arts technologies such as newest motor coils for innovative cars driven by fuel-cells, over 90 years after Hitachi, Ltd. started sales of the material. “Contribute to society through the most advanced technologies and products”. This Fundamental Philosophy of Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. is symbolized in varnish which is the origin of Hitachi Chemical. |
Brief History 1912 Hitachi, Ltd. began research into electrical insulating materials for electrical machinery. This is the origin of Hitachi Chemical. 1952 Yamazaki Works was founded as Insulating Materials of Hitachi, Ltd. (Independent from Hitachi Works) 1962 Hitachi Chemical Co., Ltd. was established as a separate entity. 1963 Began business by taking over the assets of the Chemical Products Division of Hitachi, Ltd. Corporate Slogan The Hitachi Chemical Group seeks to discover potential needs and develop technologies and products to solve problems for customers by “Material System Solution” business model. The Hitachi Chemical Group has the Fundamental Philosophy pronouncing “We contribute to society through the development of superior, original technologies and products”. Activities Women’s Table Tennis of Hitachi Chemical has been keeping high records in Japan Table Tennis League 1. Single table tennis player Wang Hui holds good place in the league and player Feng Xiaoyun finished second in the 2006 games. Japan Table Tennis League holds home matches at the Central Gymnasium of Hitachi City Sports Park. Table tennis fans over one thousand cheer the Hitachi Chemical Team players there. |

Relations in the Community Hitachi Chemical Table Tennis Lesson for Junior High School Students Hitachi Chemical Table Tennis team holds “Hitachi Chemical Table Tennis Lesson for Children” and one hundred and twenty students take parts in the lesson. It was started in 2006 to find national- class players in Hitachi City in future. |
Volunteer
Activity for Katsuta Marathon Hitachi Chemical employees support the Katsuta Marathon held at the end of
every January. They prepare warming ponchos, chocolates, bananas, and hot
water for runners at about 30km point in the course. The support activity
is welcome by marathon runners at cold time of the events, which has been
done since 1994. |
 Monthly Clean-up Campaign of the Environment Employees of Yamazaki Works have been conducting clean-up campaigns to maintain the clean environment of the community, not only around the sites but also nearby public space since 1991. |
