 gnew Reignh (Gospel concert)

Oklahoma Christian University

June 10, 2008
A gospel concert filled with pleasant harmony to glorify God and send His message was held at the auditorium of Ibaraki Christian University (IC) on Saturday night, June 10th. Fortunately it was favored by good weather in spite of the rainy season. The performers were seven students of Oklahoma Christian University (OC) in Oklahoma, USA.
An exchange student program between IC and OC goes back to 1974 and the number of students who have participated in this program reaches more than 1000. The special concert by OC students was held for the first time to promote even better relationships.

The songs in the first half were very rhythmic and the audience really enjoyed their performance, clapping along with the beat. They also introduced the words of songs beforehand so that the audience could sing together with them. To our surprise, the man in charge of mixing sounds was making the sound and rhythm of percussion instruments by using his voice and the movement of his lips to add effective sounds for each song.@When they sang the song of Godfs love for an abandon child, one of the members explained that he tried to have a quiet moment to feel the intensity, which helped us to share their feeling for the song.@The message of the last song was gGod gave us lots of talents. So, we should respond and thank to God. Hallelujah, Hallelujahh. Their powerful songs were carried to the bottom of our hearts.

Though OC students were besieged by autograph hunters as soon as they finished the concert, we had a chance to ask a few questions and found the following. The group gnew Reignh was formed in 2000 and consists of six vocalists and one man in charge of mixing sounds. When one member graduates from school, they get a new member through auditions. It was the first time for them to have an overseas concert and they are planning to have another one in Tokyo. The gospels sung during the concert are fairly popular on radio. Finally we asked what was the most enjoyable happening so far, One of the members replied he himself was touched by gthe a cappellah singing at IC Junior High School.
During a little more than an hour and a half, all the members of new Reign sang cheerfully or quietly with beautiful harmony. They even came down from the stage to enjoy ghigh touchh with many young people, which livened up the concert. Most of the audience could set out for home in a happy mood and in the hope of meeting again.
